Asking questions in Matter Chat

Ask anything about a matter's documents in plain English — every answer comes back cited to the exact document and page it came from.

1

Type your question naturally

No special syntax needed — ask things like "What's the U-value and SHGC for the windows?" or "Which sheet shows the driveway plan?" the same way you'd ask a colleague.

2

Click the citation badge to verify

Every fact in the answer is tagged back to its source document and page. Click the badge to open that exact spot — never take an AI answer on faith.

3

Use the quick actions for common questions

"Summarise" and "Key Issues" in the chat header run a full-matter scan in one click, rather than typing the question out each time.

4

Scope a question to one folder

If a matter has a lot of documents, use the folder-scope picker above the composer to search just one folder instead of everything.

Tip: if two related matters share context (e.g. a precedent matter with reusable background material), link one as a Master Matter so its documents are available as extra reference — opt-in per question, never included by default.
